When Kuwait was freed in 1991, Bustan Al Wataniya (BW) was started. The goal was to represent tobacco brands, and areas Al Bustan AL Khaleeji (BK) was not entering. Therefore, competition created a healthy relationship between the companies. BW grew at a healthy rate. Also, over the years, BW introduced new brands. As a result, the experience helped the BW team grow market knowledge. The team’s vast knowledge has proven to be an important asset.

Further, over the years, BW established strong relationships with mini-marts. Today BW services the majority of them. Moreover, BW worked with entrepreneurs to expand its distribution. Due to BW’s continued efforts to keep up with the changing market, one of its major strengths is its reach. Thanks to BW’s management team, they reached new targets throughout the decades. Many employees served loyally and worked their way through the ranks.

Unfortunately, after the passing of BW’s long serving GM, BW restructured. Moreover, since obstacles three decades ago no longer exist, the board brought both BW and BK under one management. Today, BK handles all food related items, while BW all non-food products. BW is divided in two divisions. Firstly, our tobacco division, and secondly, our non-food consumer goods.

The decision to merge proved to be a successful one. Due to the relationship between both companies, with a few challenges, integration was successful. Both companies now achieve better results. More synergies are used and thus, costs are reduced. The team at BW continues to work effortlessly to achieve new milestones. Further, their dedication allowed us to become the power brand we are today.
